Welcome message from President Catherine Cherry-Williams

Welcome to our website!

As you surf, you will find information on upcoming events that are focused on fundraising and on informing people such as yourself about our program. Our many community volunteers across Simcoe County, Dufferin County and the District of Muskoka work tirelessly to make our program such a success. The support of the Ontario Provincial Police and local police services in our area is unwaivering. Finally, our media partners ensure our message gets out to the community in a way that maximizes our exposure. Community, Media and Police - a tripartite partnership that has resulted in over 40,000 anonymous tips being called in to our program since 1987.
Whether you are a potential tipster or volunteer, a member of the media or the police service, this site will answer your questions about our program and the main question of "how can I make my community a safer place to live, work and play".

Catherine Cherry-Williams
President

Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka takes anonymous information from the public to assist the Police in solving crimes. We pay cash rewards of up to $2000 for information that leads to an arrest, charges, recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs.

Tipsters never identify themselves or testify in court.

Crime Stoppers is NOT a police program nor a part of any police service. Crime Stoppers is not an investigative agency. The program acts as a secure method for getting your information to the investigative agency anonymously.

Crime Stoppers is based on a well developed and trusted tri-party relationship between the Public, the Police and the Media. The Public provides the anonymous information, the Police investigate the information/crime, and the Media assists in promoting awareness of unsolved crimes and the Crime Stoppers program as a whole.

Crime Stoppers is a non-profit, registered charitable organization, relying on the generous contributions of our sponsors and donations from businesses and individuals.

Our communities are varied, ranging from a large city, to towns, hamlets, and rural areas. The program is operated by large team of dedicated civilian volunteers who promote public awareness and education about Crime Stoppers and assist in fund raising activities.  Funds raised and donated keep the program viable by supporting the cash reward fund and covering administrative costs such as our 24/7 toll free tip line.

The Board of Directors, lead by President Catherine Cherry-Williams, governs the operation of the program and authorizes reward payments. The Board consists of 12 members from the community who also sit on local committees. There are locally focused committees in Barrie, Orillia, Muskoka, Dufferin, South Simcoe, Midland, Oro-Medonte and Wasaga Beach.

The Police Co-ordinator manages the two way flow of anonymous information between the program and the police.  The Police Co-ordinator is responsible for the media presence of Crime Stoppers and a prominent presence for Crime Stoppers in the community via trusted relationships with the many community stakeholders.
